When I get sore muscles, the recovery is first on my mind. It is proven that recovery after exercise is as important as the exercise itself.
Muscles need time to adapt and adjust the post work out changes , which we have applied to them.
There is also a lot you can do to speed up the DOMS of your muscles and here are some of my remedies, which work and help my achy muscles.
I eat regularly antioxidant rich food - seasonal berries, fresh ginger, sour pickles, sauerkraut, sour beetroots.
At the end of the day it is all about relaxing my body and a soak in a bath with salts always helps me to relax my body, therefore helps faster recovery.
I also eat spinach every day, either in a salad or in my green smoothie. It consists lutein, which helps in muscular degeneration.
I drink lots of water and eat liquid foods to hydrate muscle cells and help the recovery.
Since my diet is full of antioxidant food ( and trust me that was not always the case), it gives me an ahead recovery after any strenuous exercise.
Here is what else helps sore muscles naturally:
*Apple cider vinegar; mix a teaspoon with glass of water, due to its anti - inflammatory and alkalizing properties, apple cider vinegar helps to reduce muscle pain and inflammation
*Essential oils are also helpful for muscle pain relief. Try lemongrass, peppermint or marjoram essential oil for cramps. For muscle tension the best is marjoram, peppermint, lavender essential oils. Just add one or two drops of essential oils in a teaspoon of carrier oils such as coconut oil, or olive oil and massage the affected area. It will bring the relieve pretty fast
*Another amazing and simple way to reduce muscle tension is drinking a tart cherry juice. Cherry juice is packed with antioxidants and is effective to get relief from soreness. You can add cherry juice in your smoothie after a heavy workout
*Hot bottle pack for sore muscles is one of my favourite; applied heat helps our body to send appropriate amount of water to damages part and with this heal it
